NEW Qualifications List for those delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage

CWDC has recently undertaken a review of the qualifications held on the Early Years and Playwork Qualifications Database in order to develop a new Qualifications List for those delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The new list has been developed to help individuals and employers identify appropriate training that their staff may need. It also provides guidance to Ofsted Inspectors, employers and practitioners about how specific qualifications meet the existing requirements of the national standards for under 8’s day care and childminding.

Until the end of August 2009, the existing Early Years and Playwork Qualifications Database will be available and this should still be used to check that settings meet the statutory requirements for qualifications. However from September 2009, this Database will be superseded by the Qualifications List, and from this date local authorities, employers, practitioners and Ofsted inspectors must use the Qualifications List exclusively.

The new list is available on line through www.cwdcouncil.org.uk and will allow settings to check whether they meet the current requirements. It will also help to identify any training and development staff may require to ensure they meet the new requirements that will come into force from September 2009.
